LG has been in talks regarding the future of its mobile division for a while now, with discussions of a sale popping up too. The company’s future devices are also said to be affected by the talks, as we previously heard that its rollable phone project has been put on hold.
Now, South Korea’s Chosun outlet (h/t: Sleepy Kuma) has reported that LG’s upcoming V60 successor dubbed Rainbow is on indefinite hold. A source familiar with the matter told the outlet that LG and carrier partners have decided not to push ahead with field testing the device, which was apparently supposed to kick off at the end of February.
It’s claimed that LG was supposed to release the Rainbow phone in March once field testing was completed, suggesting that the actual release is also on hold. This original March release window lined up with a December 2020 report, which also pointed to a Snapdragon 888 chipset and Wacom active stylus support for the new phone.

We’ve asked LG for a response regarding the reported delay and the company refused to comment. It’s clear nonetheless that it’s not quite business as usual for LG’s mobile division.
