I'm laughing at Samsung for sounding desperate. The most valued companies are Amazon, Apple, and Google. I'll stick to only iPhone or Pixel even though I still have my issues with iOS. But it's smooth and gets updates like macOS which I prefer way more than Windows.

I wouldn't say South Korean laws would favour Samsung, because that would be unfair to hell. Its LG's store, its their choice.

But think about it:- If a lot of customers want a Samsung phone, won't they check out LG's smart TV and fridge and other gadgets in the same showroom?
Wouldn't LG reap the benefit, as they have nothing in phones anyways?

What about a typical Apple customer spending $1200 on a phone, and then checking out LG's smart TV for just $450?

Let's be positive. I think LG may benefit from this in general...

I don't see how that makes a difference considering how insignificant LG's mobile vendor market share is and anybody looking for iPhones will buy it anywhere even without LG's help. Samsung has more than twice the market share of Apple in South Korea, why would they be scared?

I don't think this is a smart move by LG. They should know better that the Apple ecosystem is almost impossible to leave. By selling only iPhones and apple watches, they are inviting more people to join their ecosystem. Eventually they'll be creating competition for their own products eg computers

LG's 27-Inch Ultragear 27GL83A-B IPS Gaming Monitor has dropped to a new all-time low price at Amazon. It's typically priced at $379 but is available today for $296.

This offer is even cheaper than the initial Prime Day discount earlier this week, taking a total of 22% off. This monitor is currently out of stock on the official LG website.

While $379 is somewhat steep for a 27-inch IPS display, it at least features quality specifications that orient it toward gaming needs making the $296 price tag a more reasonable value.

It has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The response time is notably fast, getting as low as 1ms. It also features an LED-backlit panel. For color support, users can expect sRGB 99% alongside HDR10 support.

The two used to be fierce competitors in the smartphone market at one time but are now at complete polar opposites. Samsung is one of the largest smartphone vendors in the world. LG has admitted defeat and formally exited the smartphone market.Like Samsung, LG is a conglomerate with many different businesses under its umbrella. Among them is the vast retail network of LG Best Shops in South Korea that sell mobile devices, smartphones, home appliances, etc. With the threat of Apple on the horizon, Samsung is now requesting LG to sell its Galaxy phones at the LG Best Shops.Samsung wants to stop Apple, even if it has to swallow its prideIt was recently reported that LG is going to sell Apple products including the iPhone, iPad and the Apple Watch at its 400 LG Best Shops across South Korea from August 1. Major Korean carriers are apparently opposed to the decision but LG Electronics, which runs this retail network, has decided to sell Apple products.This decision appears to have distressed Samsung. Soon LG phones will be a relic of the past, as the company announced in April that on July 31 it will kill its mobile business worldwide.

To compensate for its losses in the smartphone market, the South Korean company will turn to the profitable EV industry. But don’t expect an G- or V- EV series. LG will focus on what it knows best: electronics, only this time for auto parts.

To that end, also on July 31, the company will officially embark on a joint venture with Canada’s Magna International, one of the world’s leading auto parts suppliers. LG has taken on a 51% stake in the enterprise. Interestingly, the agreement had already been announced in December 2020, but was pending until now shareholder and regulatory approvals. 

The so-called “LG Magna e-Powertrain” will have its headquarters in Incheon in South Korea, but plans are underway for constructing bases in Michigan, US and in Nanjing, China, to secure customers from the biggest EV markets. 

The joint venture will manufacture “e-motors, inverters and on board chargers, and related e-drive systems to support the growing global shift toward vehicle electrification.” While Magna International will provide its expertise on electric powertrain systems, LG will bring to the table its knowledge in component development for e-motors and inverters. 

That’s a very good deal for LG, given that Magna’s customers include General Motors, BMW, and Ford.

In fact, according to information disclosed to Nikkei Asia, LG predicts that the vehicle components division will make an investment return for the first time in six years in 2021. For that reason, the company plans to expand its sales by 15% per year, which is expected to pay off more than $8.8 billion (10 trillion won) by 2024.

Well, personally I won’t miss LG phones much, which I always found quite inconvenient, but I do hope the company will advance EV tech. Better luck this time, LG.
