If you’ve been watching any of the Euros lately, you’ll know that TV makers and retailers are on a tear trying to convince you that this is the year to upgrade your set. After all, what self-professed football fan wouldn’t want to watch England get knocked out by Germany on penalties in ultrahigh definition? This, of course, is all a bunch of nonsense, but I’m here to tell you that it actually is a particularly good year to get a new telly.
This is partly because the LG OLED65C14LB continues its maker’s streak of making some of the best sets you can buy, but mainly because you have a notable amount of choice when it comes investing in your next big screen. Having seen LG dominate the market for the past few years, the likes of Sony and Samsung have really pulled out their fingers to offer some serious competition and cash in on the inflated viewership of this summer’s major sporting events. Is its C1 set still the reigning MVP? Let’s get into it.
A story of fine-tuning
So, for the past few years, if you’ve wanted the best pound-for-pound telly around you’d just opt for whatever LG’s latest C series OLED is. It’s the TV we’ve recommended to countless folks and the one we actually own at home, which is as glistening a recommendation as we can give any product. Given last year’s almost excellent LG CX OLED models are sticking around this year at a lower, super-competitive price, that does change the value proposition of the LG OLED65C14LB somewhat.
