Well they shouldn't give up. I had two LG phones and they were ok for the price. Really can't complain and their budget phones worked without any problems. Their G series were not bad but they priced it too high on release and people wouldn't buy them but if you wait a few months you can pick it up cheaper. Still think they should have stayed in mobile.

I was hoping to see the s series continue ...sad to be edified on news of this spontaneous exit...lg had made some real good phones over the years

As all the others says; LG has to blame themselves for the bad decisions. Among the many bad decisions, the ones that really hurt LG is pricing, in my opinion. True! that LG phones had worse cameras (compared to Apple/Samsung), Ture! LG phones had worse software (update or optimization whatever) compared to Apple/Samsung. But when you compare their phones with others such as Motorola, Nokia, Sony, etc, LG phones were not that bad. But the price was too high. If G5/6/7/8 were $300 less from day1, people would have lined up. If Velvet was $400, I would have bought one. Engineers/software developers don't set the price. It all fells to mid-to-top managers, asking for $800 for their phones. The funny thing is; their phone price dropped so fast anyway, because no one was paying their asking prices. Yet, they continued to try to set their price so high.

They should exit more often...

LG made mistakes, but so did others.

They have nothing but themselves to blame for their mobile demise.

Outdated designs and lackluster cameras the past three years really messed them up.

Anonymous, 30 Apr 2021In poor countries, sales of flagships are pretty low. Not even samsung sells much S/Note in ... moreIn west europe they were not popular at all later on.

I mean with the G3 and G4 that were the glory days, heck even G7 was advertised here.

But just as a example, I had to IMPORT my TPU case for the G8S I have... yes it's that bad and this was in 2019.

In my country Samsung and Apple are on top, followed by Motorola, Xiaomi and Samsung in the midrangers and below... however Xiaomi starts to loose ground on less modable phones due to most people not wanting it's stock rom here, but custom one.

And LG? Every time someone more tech savvy saw my phone they asked "why LG" and when I explained them why they said "sad the are not popular anymore, because their featureset is balanced for the price"

But yeah... my last LG in the end, sad but not like I didn't expect this happening sooner or later.

Not surprising when local stores over here sell the 5G Velvet for €310 (great pick, and some sellers still even include the second screen case) or a V30+ for €125.

Even the Wing is around €580 now... only the V60 didn't drop in price for some reason.

Anyhow sad this had to happen, but it is for the best sadly.

Anonymous, 29 Apr 2021Maybe if they sold the good flagships such as the wing across the world they might make a profit....In poor countries, sales of flagships are pretty low.
Not even samsung sells much S/Note in places like Latin America, Africa and South Asia.
LG would just lose more money trying to sell Velvet, Wing and V60 there.

This kind of phones have only chance in places like South Korea, USA, Canada, West Europe, Hong Kong , Taiwan, Australia, Japan and Singapore.

FarFan, 29 Apr 2021So they actually stabilized mobile division and dropping it now? Nice logic. No, LG as a whole had impressive Q1 sales, their mobile division had a more than $200M loss.

Anonymous, 29 Apr 2021There is a negative sign where you see profits. LG is losing about 1 billion dollars per year. And they loose so much since 4 or 5 years at least ;-) (Not that I enjoyed that)
