CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Hundreds of employees at the Clarksville LG washing machine factory participated in a 2020 holiday food drive, donating thousands of pounds of food.
“These are unprecedented times, and due to the pandemic the need in our community is greater than ever this holiday season. That’s why LG is partnering with Manna Café Ministries to help make the holidays a little brighter for our Clarksville-Montgomery County neighbors in need,” team leader Theodore Myers said.
The total weight of donated food was over 2,000 pounds, all of it delivered to Manna Café.
Also, dozens of local employees, from line workers to the president of the factory, volunteered at Manna all week, and LG donated 2,000 masks to Manna.
“LG is proud of its role as a leading corporate citizen and especially proud of its local employees who give back to the community,” Myers said. “These holiday activities cap a year during which LG undertook extraordinary measures to keep its Clarksville essential workers safe while supporting COVID relief efforts in Middle Tennessee and around the country.”
Statewide, LG provided tens of thousands of much-needed masks to the State of Tennessee for front-line medical workers, and employees contributed to the company’s nationwide coronavirus community response. The total of $350,000 to the COVID relief efforts of the American Red Cross and veteran-led Team Rubicon includes employee donations, matching company contributions and a portion of proceeds from the sales of Clarksville-produced washers on LG.com.
