QuadWash Dishwasher From LG Is A Holiday Hero - Forbes

Worried about your dishwasher giving up the ghost right after you load it up with Thanksgiving dishes, pots, and pans? With early Black Friday deals happening right now, it's the perfect time upgrade to the LG LDP6810SS QuadWash Dishwasher.

LG's latest line of QuadWash dishwashers are truly next-generation. Not just in terms of cleaning and organization (though they do have some impressive features there as well) but also in their integrated smart technology. You might not think you ever needed an app for your dishwasher but once you try it out on the LG LDP6810SS, you'll be glad it’s there.

Smart

OK, let's get this out of the way. Yes, the LG LDP6810SS has an app. No, you don't have to use it. But you'll want to. Here's why.

When you add your dishwasher to the LG ThinQ app, you get access to four additional cycles that aren't listed on the top control panel of the unit: pots & pans, casseroles, glassware, and night care. The first three are pretty self-explanatory. Night care is a bit confusing, however. If you use the Auto mode for your dishes, then you likely don't need it. Night care turns on the overnight drying function that is enabled automatically on Auto. But if you're the type that actually uses other wash settings, you might find it handy to have night care downloaded to your dishwasher (you can only have one extra program downloaded at a time).

But the extra washing modes aren't why I love the app functionality of the LG LDP6810SS so much. When was the last time you ran a machine clean cycle on your dishwasher? If you're like me, the answer is "umm…" The LG ThinQ app keeps track of runs for you and will remind you when it's time to pop a degreaser into the machine and run a clean cycle.

And if anything ever goes wrong with your LG LDP6810SS, you can run a diagnostic from the app to determine exactly what's going on and if you can fix it or if you need to schedule a repair. A lot of LG's latest appliances share this technology and I'm excited about it. I've had more than my fair share of appliances that just stopped working for no discernable reason. Being able to pop open the app and find out what's happening is vastly preferable to poring over repair manuals online and trying to guess as to why your machine won't clean.

MORE FOR YOU

The app can also let you know when a cycle is finished or how long the current cycle has left to complete. If you're an Amazon user, you can enable Dash replenishment to have the dishwasher automatically order detergent when you're low. You can also ask your new Echo how long the current cycle has.

Organized

But as useful as the app is, you won't be using it every day. What you will be using is the somewhat staggering number of customizable racks and tines packed into the LG LDP6810SS.

Yes, I know you're doubting my excitement over customizable racks and tines. I guarantee you, as someone who's been shoving dishes into dishwashers for over 30 years, absolutely anything that makes dishwashing a less arduous task is met with ample celebration.

The bottom and middle rack both have multiple sets of lay-flat tines so that you can easily accommodate larger items or just create a flat space for pots and pans. The middle rack is also adjustable so that you can raise or lower it as needed to fit items wherever you might need to place them. It's especially helpful when you're running a half load and just need a little more space to accommodate taller dishes that you'd normally put on the lower rack.

What I really love, though, is the adjustable rack of the top silverware tray. The left-hand side lowers with the slide of a button so that you can fit serving spoons or ladles that you'd normally cram in-between other dishes. Oh, and all of these adjustments can be done with the dishwasher fully loaded.

I had a previous-model LG before the company installed the LG LDP6810SS in my kitchen. It also had an adjustable rack and tines. But nothing like what's in the latest models. Overnight I went from always having a few dishes left over that just wouldn't fit to having extra room for stray cups found in my daughter's room.

Powerful

But all of the fancy tech in the world doesn't mean anything if the dishwasher can't clean. And not just "clean" but "clean so well that I spend less time in the kitchen" clean. After all, $999 for a dishwasher is a sizeable investment.

Thankfully, the LG LDP6810SS does just that. The QuadWash technology has, you guessed it, four arms instead of just two. Not only that, they rock back and forth during the cycle to clean your dishes from every angle. The dishwasher also has TrueSteam nozzles throughout the unit to deliver blasts of steam that loosen up caked-on gunk as well as sanitize. The steam is also great for eliminating spots on glassware.

I hate prewashing dishes and this tech completely eliminates the need to do that. Don't believe me? I made a batch of my artery-clogging mac and cheese the other day and dropped the cooking pot directly into the dishwasher, completely bypassing the sink. The results speak for themselves.

The Dynamic Dry tech does a fantastic job of getting your dishes drier than a traditional dishwasher. At the end of the cycle, the LG LDP6810SS uses steam to super-heat the interior, promoting quick evaporation. It then uses fans and vents built into the door to keep moist air from building up inside the dishwasher.

When it's in operation, the LG LDP6810SS isn't quite as quiet as I'd like, the steam nozzles in particular make a fair amount of noise. It's not loud by any stretch, but if your kitchen is next to your living room, you might find yourself turning up the volume if you're watching a quieter show. Luckily you can delay the cycle and have the dishwasher run when you're in bed. The Night Dry feature will ensure that your dishes don't collect condensation when sitting in the washer overnight.

There are plenty of deals to be had on the LG LDP6810SS in the days leading up to the Black Friday weekend, with the average being around $250 off. You can find out more about the dishwasher and find out where to get one of your own on the LG site.
