Demongornot, 2 hours agoI'm sure it they have to justify it, it will be about the thickness of each of the two bo... morewow... that should be our mindset, if i get it right... we should welcome new ideas in the industry... but, to each his own, perhaps most of us are "vocal" and insist what should be and should not... most of the time, there is brand sensitivity... or... hellooooo marketing still works...
though, we welcome ideas... we have some "biases" depending on our lifestyles or how we are willing to "stretch" our lifestyles... remember, it is a cycle that affects smartphone industry too - science to technology to society then back to science... so, most manufacturers listen to "society" and somehow satisfies them... look at most manufacturers, they give "more" since most buyers think that more is better (but hey there is what we call compromises)... so they give "high specs, low price" and make people go... wow! this is a flagship for a midrange price, not knowing they cut corners...
speaking of lifestyles and preference, my bias is towards undisturbed display, decent camera, capable soc no matter how old it is... no notch or punched holes... but still amazed at how lg thought of dual screen... the use cases it provides are great... and if you want to use it without the case which is also screen, it is possible...
if only we can buy all what we want... 😂 to inspire the real innovators...

Berserker89, 3 hours agoDesign change possibly? You mean front facing camera omission? Pleace dont bring that c... moreThat or anything else, there are not a single valid reason to be opposed at any design idea that won't affect you negatively in any ways, it only prevent innovations from happening because of the way comments can have a huge impact on marketing decisions, and only have for result to make peoples who want any of those design/feature idea to have no available options.
It can be no front camera, having 10 cameras on the back, having no screen display (using screenless display tech), having no buttons, etc
You'll notice if you were to read all my comments that I never goes against non intrusive tech (meaning you have to deal with it if you don't want it, different from tech that doesn't cause any arm being present on the phone even if you don't use it, like the 3.5mm Jack or IR Blaster for example) and that are excessively invading the market, like the punch hole, the notch and the curved display who represent a way too big portion of the market leaving almost no room for other designs, like pop up, bezels and others.

So as long as peoples will be against the idea of no front camera, despite it having literally no negative impact on their life (it won't be as if all smartphones will get without front camera, only a small amount could get this design), or any other tech, like pop up, dual/stereo speakers, 3.5mm Jack, etc, I'll still insist, whenever I deem it necessary, to bring it up to counter the unjustified and useless negativity around it.
In other words, as long as peoples will complain about it, I'll talk about it.

Almost any design/feature is worth defending on the Smartphone market who lack diversity.

Anonymous, 10 hours agoIf this turns out jack-less, maybe they will say the turning merchanism may just cause the wir... moreI'm sure it they have to justify it, it will be about the thickness of each of the two body than the cables, as at the lower part the bodies are enclosed in both top and bottom, the cables wouldn't have issues except if you were to run them as far as the phone's upper part where the rotating mechanism is.

The battery excuse is stupid as the Jack is placed in a part of the body that the battery doesn't have access to, it is where a big part of the antennas and the vibration motor are located.
Making the smartphone 0.5mm thicker would allow for way more than 100mAh battery gained, and as I said often, there is no point in making a smartphone under 10mm anyway, except some models for those who like slim devices, which, past the hype and trend effect, actually not that much peoples have any real advantages at, as a thicker device is actually more confortable to hold, 15mm being the average thickness of a finger, and a quite natural thickness to handle, a phone between 10mm to 15mm with a sweetspot probably at 12mm would be better for a lot of peoples.
Way more peoples and have use of want smaller (width and height) phone than slimmer phones, yet phones are almost all under 10mm (even under 8mm actually) and almost none are compact, which prove the hypocrisy of the brands who gave that excuse.

And thanks you, I am defending diversity, I am not interested in that design, but I defend it because it doesn't cause any arm to have it, most peoples don't even realize that alternative/weird designs often lead to some discoveries for new features or new implementations of commonly used things, and this is a good things, same for giving peoples who want X or Y feature a chance to get it.

LG always trying to do something different, appreciate their efforts and build quality, but
I don't think any practical use of the Wing Series, how we can use this device daily life, it's better they reduce the price and set big battery same like Asus did in the Flagship series cell
also nowadays every company makes a cell with no notch still they released LG V60 with a notch

Demongornot, 13 hours agoI totally agree, though don't you think your comment is a little ironic considering that ... moreDesign change possibly?

You mean front facing camera omission?

Pleace dont bring that conversation again.

Anonymous, 7 hours agoother company doing stuff people : wow, innovation, invention, superb LG and Sony doing stuf... moreSorry, but this is really a stupid "feature" if we can even call it that. LG's dual screen that works as a book was at least meaningful, similar to Microsoft's Surface Duo without going into foldable displays territory. But this bizarre crucifiction of displays is just dumb. Like duuuuumb. You can't just smear some feces onto something and demand everyone call it innovation...

LG have already experience with 4 devices with 2 screens. So whatever decision they will take with software will be good. For people who say it won't sell cause of its purpose, LG intentionally do weird innovation grab attention which also good as at least they innovate. They didn't meant this phone for sales and profit. Remember people also said what's the use of extra wide angle camera and two screens and LG did it anyway while rest of companies adapted it later and people loved it.

I don't see much demand or appeal for this type of a design, instead, they can make a clamshell phone with two screens on the inside, that would be cheaper and simpler than a folding screen phone i.e razr, it'll be more durable, less complex, with better longevity, while folding with zero gap in between, it can also use strengthened glass as the display doesn't actually fold but are two seperate screens, moreover the whole thing when folded would be a lot compact and pocketable, solving the big phones problem, and they can even bring back the metal design for the exterior build, making the phone resistant to drops, also better looking, so no need for cases. There's just going to be a hinge in between the two displays inside, but that's okay for a lot of other benefits that come along with this implementation. I think manufacturers must at least consider this concept. This can be the perfect phone

It really is a very strange design, i prefer the fold phones for sure, but until prices are more human, i stick to normal phones 👍🏻

No one will take notice of this phone. Unless its Apple designed and made. Its sales will be poor compared to mainstream phones.

Whenever we see foldable phones, we can find the benefits of that design like it can be used as tablet or mini laptop or gaming device and we can say the design useful,
but I still unable to find the benefits of this type of rotating design, whats the special use of this??? I think this is another needless and gimmick from LG, there is no doubt that LG have some good phones also like velvet, v60, or g8x, but they still getting failed to promote and marketing the product in well manner, they must need to learn from Samsung.....

A32796

This is by far the best take on dual screen phone. I hope this gets popular enough to get 2/3 more generations.

It is a nice phone yeah, but what about when you lose a pubg game and you start trying to separate the 2 parts?

Kinda acceptable excuse other than the one spouted by a beloved maker that removing the jack added a massive 100mah capacity to their batteries.

Thank ggodness you stick around. The majority of netizens here are just r/hailcorporate variety parroting their favorite rectangle manufacturers PR speak.
