LG Velvet was first released in South Korea earlier this year after many teases and leaks. Despite the woes that happened to the tech company in recent years, the Velvet could be a turning point for LG as it launched its modest smartphone.

The Korean firm has been silent on its US debut ever since its launch this year, but on August 21, they announced that LG Velvet would officially be available in the stateside with a starting price of $599.

LG Velvet Available in the US

Starting on August 22, Velvet will be available first at AT&T, and later this summer, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile will also start selling it. The phone's starting price is below the expectations of most people as it starts at $599.

LG Velvet is not quite as powerful as the Korean firm's flagship Snapdragon 865 as it is based on Qualcomm's "mid-range" Snapdragon 756G chipset. But the phone will still be packed with 5G compatibility and speed enough for its vast majority of its patrons and consumers.

Moreover, the phone is also packed with a RAM of 6GB, 128GB storage, microSD, and a triple-camera array. The phone also has a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 5MP depth camera.

LG Velvet's 6.8-inch OLED display is also an FHD resolution. It has a battery capacity of 4,300 mAH and charges using USB-C or Qi. The phone retains a 3.5m headphone jack and uses biometric security through its in-display fingerprint sensor.

Notably, LG has released some new color variants in the United States, such as Pink White, Aurora Red, aurora Silver, and Aurora Gray.

LG Velvet 5G Smartphone Review

LG was once the third-place smartphone company in the US, but it has struggled in the past few years to establish itself in the American market. The company has not gotten much credit for their innovations, such as the wide-angle cameras and HQ audio.

LG Velvet is bigger, more tapered, and more modern than the G series, with its three cameras and flash in a vertical series down its shimmery back panel. The front glass of LG Velvet is curved at the edge, which comes to pinched sides but still with a headphone jack.

It looks a little like combination of a Samsung and a Sony phone and is waterproof, which makes it nicer for a smartphone at the same price range. The phone also works with LG's dual-screen case, which allows the user to multitask applications on.

Currently, AT&T offers the phone for $300 on an installment plan, which makes it cheaper compared to Pixel 4a that costs $349. It is waterproof and could support wireless charging.

The Velvet is undoubtedly a steal at $300. But still, deciding between Velvet and Pixel 4a comes down with the user's assessment of the latter's light camera versus the former's bigger screen, faster processor, waterproof factor, and a more beautiful design.
